Empire Aristocrat

Empire Aristocrat
Made in England (1950s)
Excellent condition, cleaned and fully-functional with new ribbon. The Empire Aristocrat is a compact, ultra-portable manual typewriter produced by British Typewriters Ltd of West Bromwich, England, under licence from the Swiss design of the Hermes Baby. Built circa the 1950s, the Aristocrat retains the characteristic “gull-wing” ribbon spool covers, a dedicated shift key (rather than a combined shift/capital key), and a clean, compact footprint that made it a favourite for writers, travellers and professionals needing a reliable machine on the move. The finish features textured olive-green metal, dark green/grey keys with red shift/backspace/margin release accents, and comes with a clip-on hard carry case. Though it uses only a single-colour ribbon (rather than black/red), the Aristocrat delivers smooth typing action and remains highly regarded among collectors for its blend of British manufacture, Swiss-licensed design heritage and portable convenience. A stylish, well-engineered light-weight British portable from the 1950s, the Empire Aristocrat offers impressive portability without sacrificing mechanical quality — an excellent choice for both vintage typewriter users and collectors alike.
